On 15 October Maxima Legal hosted the second seminar in this series at its office in St. Petersburg. The event was moderated by Natalia Zelentsova, Head of the Private Wealth Practice.

One of the speakers was Elena Antonova, a notary who has joined the Maxima Legal inheritance planning team. She described the pluses and minuses of inheritance according to the law and inheritance by will, and also about the aims and instruments of inheritance planning. Other matters discussed at the seminar included the possible mechanisms for assigning property to heirs and the particulars of inheriting securities abroad.

The international conference, entitled ‘Developing Markets 2015: Prospects of Development of Business and the State’, was held at the St. Petersburg State University Higher School of Management from 15 to 17 October.

The first day of the conference was devoted, in particular, to the subject of state-private partnerships. Vladimir Kilinkarov, Head of Maxima Legal’s Public-Private Partnership Department, spoke at a round-table discussion on ‘The Development of State-Private Partnerships in Airports’ and described to delegates, who included foreign specialists from the UNECE, representatives of authorities in CIS countries and colleagues from European universities, his experience in devising a Model Law ‘On Public-Private Partnerships’ for CIS member states, approved by the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on 28 November 2014, and its value for the development of legislation concerning state-private partnerships in Russia and other countries in the Commonwealth.
